HISTORY:
The only child of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, Draco Lucius Malfoy was born on the 5th of June, his father serving as a death eater in the first wizarding world around that time. The Malfoy family became one of the few remaining pure-blood wizarding clans, and among the richest. Malfoy grew up in his home, the Malfoy Manor, an elegant mansion in the English county of Wiltshire. They were served by the house elf, Dobby. They were a well respected family, based on his father's involvement with Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic and his donations to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Lucius also served on the Hogwarts board of governors.
Draco received his acceptance letter to Hogwarts at the typical age of eleven. He first met Harry Potter while getting his robes fitted at Madam Malkin's in Diagon Alley. He didn't immediately recognize the boy to be the famous Harry Potter and offered him his friendship. Draco was arrogant, asking whether Harry's parents were of "our kind", meaning pure-blood wizards. He proclaimed that muggle-borns should not be allowed at Hogwarts, because "they've never been brought up to know our ways." The two parted shortly after, not introducing each other. They met again on the Hogwarts Express. Draco ridiculed Ron Weasley's family and Harry denies his friendship. That was the start of their mutual rivalry. Once arriving at Hogwarts and entering the great hall, he was sorted into Slytherin, the hat barely touching his head. He became an instant favorite of the head of Slytherin and Potions' master, Severus Snape. Draco tried to get Harry expelled by talking him into participating in a midnight wizard duel, secretly talking to Filch in advance, but Harry slipped away unnoticed of the caretaker and made it safely to his dormitory.
In Draco's second year, he became the new seeker for the Slytherin Quidditch team after his father donates new expensive broomsticks. When Hermione Granger voices that the Gryffindor players make the team because of their talent, Draco calls her a Mudblood. The Gryffindors present responded immediately with violence except for Harry and Hermione who were raised by muggles and don't know what the term means. Because of Draco's standing against Muggle-borns, the trio thought that he was the heir of Slytherin who had recently reopened the Chamber of Secrets. They use Polyjuice potion to disguise themselves as Crabbe and Goyle, Draco's lackeys, to get into the Slytherin Common Room and collect information, where they found out that their assumptions about Malfoy were incorrect. Dobby was freed from Draco's family at the end of his second year and Lucius was removed from his position of the board of hogwarts governors.
During Draco's third year at Hogwarts, he insulted Buckbeak the Hippogriff during Hagrid's Care of Magical Creatures class. He was attacked by the creature and exaggerates his injury, using it to postpone the Quidditch match against Gryffindor to later in the year and get Hagrid fired. He was slapped by Hermione Granger when he mocked Hagrid for crying over Buckbeak's death sentence. Draco knew of Black's involvement with the death of Harry's parents, and taunted Harry about the threat of Sirius who had escaped Azkaban.
After Harry is chosen as a champion in the Triwizard Tournament in their fourth year, Draco made buttons that supported Cedric and taunted Harry, displaying the phrase "Potter Stinks." He gave horrible and mostly false information about Harry and Hagrid to the journalist of the Daily Prophet, Rita Skeeter. When Draco tried to curse Harry behind his back, the Defense against the Dark Arts' Professor Mad Eye Moody, who was actually Barty Crouch Jr. in disguise, transformed him into a ferret and humiliated him. Malfoy attended the Yule Ball with Pansy Parkinson.
In his fifth year, Draco was named a prefect along with Pansy. He got Potter and the Weasley twins banned from the Gryffindor Quidditch team when they attacked him after he insulted their families because of a Slytherin loss in a Quidditch match against them. He joined Dolores Umbridge's Inquisitorial Squad and played a role in the exposure of Dumbledore's Army. When the D. A. was escaping from the room of Requirement, Draco earned Slytherin points by catching Harry and holding other members captive in Umbridge's office. He did not let them go until Ginny performed a Bat Bogey Hex against the squad. His father and other death eaters were sentenced to Azkaban after what happened in the Department of Mysteries. Draco tried to get revenge on Harry twice but was thwarted by Snape and Professor McGonagall and then members of Dumbledore's Army.
When Draco reached his sixth year, he was assigned a dangerous task by Voldemort. Narcissa worried that her son would die trying to fulfill it so pleaded with Snape to make the Unbreakable Vow and help Draco complete the task and do whatever it took to protect him. Snape agreed. Draco threatened Mr. Borgin, the owner of Borgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley. He asks the shopkeeper about repairing one item and keeping one other safe for him. Potter, spying on him with Ron and Hermione in his invisibility cloak, believed that Draco showed Borgin the dark mark on his arm to get him to do his will. On the train to Hogwarts, Harry spies on Draco again, overhearing him discussing his task with other Slytherins. Malfoy knew Harry was listening and once left alone in the compartment, immobilized harry, breaking his nose.
Later in the year, when Katie Bell almost dies in Hogsmeade by carrying a cursed necklace and Ron is almost poisoned by drinking Mead, Harry suspected that Draco was behind both incidents. Draco was working alone in the room of requirement. The realization of what he was supposed to do takes effect on him, nearly driving him into a nervous break-down in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, where Harry found him crying. Draco tried to cast the Cruciatus Curse but Harry is too fast for him and performs the Sectumsempra spell he learned from a copy of an old Potions' textbook owned by Snape, causing Malfoy's face and chest to be deeply cut which resulted in the boy losing a large amount of blood. Snape healed the cuts and took him to the hospital wing. Once recovered, Draco sneaks up to the Astronomy Tower and disarms Dumbledore, who was in a weakened condition. The headmaster spoke with him calmly, bringing the truth out of the boy that he was ordered by Voldemort to kill Dumbledore, and had tried to do so with the necklace and the mead. Malfoy tells him that he repaired the Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Requirement to set up a portal for the death eaters to enter Hogwarts. He hesitates greatly to kill Dumbledore, unable to do so and lowering his wand. Snape showed up and did the killing for him, then fled the castle with Draco in tow.
Now, the Malfoys remain followers of Lord Voldemort, though reluctant. Their home is being used as the Dark Lord's headquarters. Draco is not going back to Hogwarts for his seventh year, instead, serving as a death eater.
